Must read

Bridgerton, all you need to know:

Adapted from the book series by Julia Quinn of the same name, Bridgerton first streamed on Netflix on 25th December 2020, since then it has also become quite the household name for one of the quirky regency era shows available internationally. Seasons 1 and 2 faced major success and now the production of the third season is underway. The show has easily become one of those binge-able shows that everyone seems to love, from its characters to their dressing the color schemes, the cinematography and easily the producers and directory have captured the regency era in all its glory. Suffice to say that even the stars in Bridgerton shot to fame after its initial release, the first season follows the love story between Daphne Bridgerton, played by Phoebe Dynevor, and Simon Basset, played by Rege-Jean Page. The fans adored the pair and were excited to see them once more in the second season which followed the love story of Daphne’s elder brother Anthony Bridgerton played by Jonathan Bailey and Kathani Sharma played by Simone Ashley. But before the second season underwent production Rege-Jean Page released a statement that he will not be returning to his role as Simon Basset in the upcoming seasons.

Bridgerton

Although Jean has declared that he will not be returning to his role, he has given his blessings for a re-cast as his character remains an important one within the series. Rege explains that he felt as though the show was a ‘limited series’ and wished for something long-lasting, but rumors are surfacing that Rege did not like what his character had in store in the future of Bridgerton. Earlier this year, for Season 3 the producers approached him to reprise his role for a short timeframe but he refused as he was not happy with what his character would bring to the table. Later in an interview with the show producer Shonda Rhimes, she does confirm he was invited back but he turned her down.
Rege has now joined the big leagues starring in Gray Man by the Russo brothers who are known for their Avenger movies, alongside Ryan Gosling, Dhanush, Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, and many more.

We cannot deny the fact that it was Bridgerton that made Rege-Jean Page a household name for which he says multiple times that he is eternally grateful and also to the directors and everyone that allowed him to play Simon Basset, but shortly he will not be reprising his role again. The entire cast wished Rege his success and the best of luck.
Whom would you like to see play Simon Basset in the third season of Bridgerton?
