The Witch and the Beast, or Majo to Yajū is a Japanese manga series. It is written and illustrated by Kousuke Satake. Its chapters have been collected into ten volumes. An anime adaptation has been announced for 2022.
The Plot of the series
Ashraf is a soft-spoken man. He has delicate features; a coffin is always strapped to his back; and an entourage of black crows. Both these images suggest the figure of a vampire. Guideau is a feral, violent girl with long fangs and the eyes of a beast. This ominous pair suddenly appear one day in a town. They were in search of a witch, a ruler with magic coursing through her tattooed body. She has successfully convinced the townsfolk that she’s their hero. But Ashaf and Guideau know better and are aware of her true identity. Ashaf and Guideau live by one creed: “Wherever a witch goes, only curses and disasters follow.” They won’t hesitate to remove anyone in their way because they have scores to settle.
Can we get an anime adaptation?
On Friday, the September issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Young Magazine revealed to the anime fans that Kōsuke Satake’s The Witch and the Beast (Majo to Yajū) is inspiring an anime adaptation. In a tweet, the editor thanked the fans for their support and stated that more information would be revealed later. We will keep you updated with the latest news.
Before moving to Monthly Young Magazine in 2021, the manga began serialization in Young Magazine on the 3rd of 2016. Unfortunately, for the fans of the series, there isn’t any new information to go on besides the Majo to Yajuu anime announcement.
Fans will see a dark fairytale set in a steampunk world of magic and monsters. The Witch and the Beast will entrap manga readers looking for fantasy and a fantastic plot.
Guideau is a vicious woman. Her characteristics are more like those of an animal, including her vampire-like fangs and beastly eyes, while Ashaf is a young, attractive man with a soft side. They do have opposite personalities, but they share a common hatred for witches and live by the same creed.
They find a tattooed witch who has manipulated a whole town into thinking she is a hero or protector of the people. It becomes their mission to eliminate her in any way they can.
