The Uttar Pradesh government has canceled their intermediate (class 12) board exams citing the present Covid-19 situation in the state. “Uttar Pradesh 12th Intermediate Board Exams 2021 have been canceled by the state government today,” Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma said.

The state government has cancelled the class 10 exam but will allow students to advance automatically from grade 6, 7, 8, and 9 into their next higher grade without having to take an examination. This decision was made for school children not to be burdened by a stressful testing environment while they are still learning new information at these early stages of schooling.
The Board of Education has decided to cancel the 12th-grade exam. This is done as an act of kindness and in consideration for students who have been through difficult times with Hurricane Harvey, Irma, Maria, or Nate
The board had several considerations before deciding on canceling exams including cost-effectiveness; sacrificing academic integrity by overcompensating for disaster recovery needs at schools without damaging other educational outcomes like college admissions eligibility; how this will affect school attendance rates next year which may be impacted if student populations are still recovering from natural disasters.
These are turbulent times for 12th-grade students, as they must now take an informative exam that is canceled.
