Yes. You heard it right! Bethesda is giving away id software’s 1996 classic first-person shooter Quake game for free during the online QuakeCon event scheduled from 7th August. The 25th edition of QuakeCon going remotely as the Bethesda software and Id software canceled the offline event citing problems regarding logistics of vendors and exhibitors, in the wake of ongoing coronavirus. Quake game will soon be available during the 3-days event that continues from Aug 7 to 9. It has been announced that Quake 2 will also go free, once donation to charity exceeds the $10,000 mark.
Giveaways:
To avail of this Quake offer, you need to have an account with Bethesda.net during the event. If everything goes well, Quake 2 will soon be available after the event. Tuning in and communicating with the official twitter handle of Bethesda would also fetch you giveaways including sheeps squatch Outfit, twitch Droop, flame pony pet, ouroboros Crown Crates along with Mr. fuzzy backpack, all for free from the atomic shop this weekend. To qualify for the same, you need to link ESO and Twitch account and watch any ESO streams each day. All 24 top performers will take home their share from $150,000.
For those of you who don’t know, QuakeCon is organized annually by ZeniMax Media. Started in 1996, It was a major platform for promoting franchise of Id software.
What’s new:
Event offering blend of celebrity influencers, streams to live concerts, developer panels to charity fundraising. QuakeCon 2020 will begin 12 PM ET on Fri, Aug 7, and goes on for 72 hours till Aug 9. Expansion of Doom Eternal:
The teaser of Doom Eternal-The ancient Gods, Part 1 will also be unveiled during the event. We’ll have to wait for the trailer till the live event of Gamescom Opening Night on Aug 27. Doan eternal game director Hugo Martin described the game as cool and likened it to the comic book.
