Midsomer Murders is a British detective drama which is primarily based on the book “Chief Inspector Barnaby” by Caroline Graham. The literary series is drawn into a motion picture by Anthony Horowitz. The series has crime drama, mystery, and fiction as its genres. The United Kingdom is the country of the show’s origin.

The show gained significant success in viewership since the release of its very first episode. The show was first aired on 23 March 1997, and since then there was no looking back. Makers kept on renewing the series again to back for 21 seasons, and each season has proved to be a hit. The storyline and mystery each season comes with are what keeps the audience glued to their TV screens.

After enjoying an IMDb rating of 7.7/10 and 8.7/10 of, the show has managed to pull off its season effortlessly. Now there is buzz about show coming with its another season. The last season that is season 21 concluded this year in January. The series premiered on Acorn TV and Britbox in December 2019 in the United States before airing in the United Kingdom in January 2020. Now makers are coming with another its 22nd season. The show, for now, has 21 seasons with 124 episodes in total.

There has been no particular information about the release dates of Midsomer murders season 22. Neither ITV nor Acorn has come up with an official announcement for another season.    Season 21 concluded this year in January so that we can expect season 22 in 2021. However, due to the current situations of the global pandemic, which has brought the entire world to a halt, we can expect a delay. As the production and shooting work is not in progress, let’s see when we will get to witness another mysterious drama.


We can expect the star cast of the previous season to reunite again to embrace their respective roles. The two current protagonists of ‘Midsomer Murders’ are Detective Chief John Barnaby, played by Neil Dudgeon and Detective Sergeant Jamie Winter, played by Nick Hendrix. Joining them is Sarah Barnaby, played by Fiona Dolman. In season 21, we saw Annette Badland joining the lead cast as Dr. Fleur Perkins.

As the show is running for more than the past two decades, the cast and protagonist have been changed from time to time. The introduction of a new actor in season 22 is accepted if its a story demand.

In season 21, the series undertakes four gruesome murders. In the first episode called ‘The Point of Balance,’ the citizens of Midsomer are captivated about the forthcoming arrival of the annual ‘Paramount Dance Extravaganza.’ Yet, shrouded within the outer cover of sequins and smiling faces is a complicated web of disputes and fascinations. When the intention is to abolish everything, Barnaby and Winter must walk in to do what they do most excellent.
