The first-ever winner of RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under, Kita Mean defeated the other finalists. The drag queen took home 30 thousand dollars and got a standing ovation from Michelle Visage and Rhys Nicholas after her victory was announced.
The new champion threw her arms up in celebration before feeling elated with joy as she realized that this is what it felt like to be crowned number one!
In a moment of intense vulnerability, Kita spoke to her audience: "You know what?" she exclaimed.
I'm sure it's hard for some people out there and I don't want you to feel like that because this is the time where we need each other most." She then urged them not to be afraid as they can spread their wings too.
The crowd was stunned as Kita stepped up to the microphone and exclaimed, “You know what? Spread those f*cking wings. You can soar too!”
The woman who had been through so much shared her message of hope with RuPaul in a heart-felt confessional: "I did it."
To anybody who feels like they are weird, alone in the world, and misunderstood by everyone else – know that you don’t have to change yourself for anyone. You should embrace what makes you different because it is those things that make your unique identity shine through!
