Who is Inuyasha’s father?? How Inuyasha’s father died?? Is Inuyasha more potent than his father? If you are a fan of Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale, then you come to the right place. We will discuss all Inuyasha’s father. So start reading to the end.
Inuyasha tracked the exploits of Kagome Higurashi, a high school girl, and the half-demon Inuyasha as they hunted for pieces of the Shikon Jewel. With the last installment, Inuyasha: The Final Act, the series cemented its spot as one of the Shonen genre’s most adored cult masterpieces.
It has about 200 episodes and has a plethora of spectacular combat, exciting surroundings, rich backstories, and eccentric characters. Among them, the main character, Inuyasha, and his brother, Sesshomaru, spend the majority of the story figuring out how to use their swords’ never-ending abilities.
This makes us wonder about the origins of the blade that has piqued the interest of two of the series’ most powerful characters. The sword was fashioned from the fang of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha’s father, the Great Dog General. It was a shock to learn that he died, especially with a father as powerful as him. So, how did that happen? So let’s check!
How Inuyasha’s father died?
Toga, Inuyasha’s father, was a strong dog demon who ruled over the Western Lands. He approached and fought the dragon demon Ryukotsusei in combat to defend his domain from the menace of the dragon demon Ryukotsusei. Ryukotsusei was one of the most powerful demons of his day, and not even Toga could easily vanquish or seal him.
In a final desperate attempt, the latter used one of his teeth to puncture Rhyukotsusei just above the heart, sealing him.
Sadly, despite his victory and sealing of the monster, Toga was killed. While Toga was engaged battling the draconic monster, something else happened. Takemaru, one of Izayoi’s (Toga’s human wife’s) castle attendants, was madly in love with her. He intended to prevent the half-demon from being born after learning of her pregnancy, which he accomplished by murdering both her and the unborn child.
Despite being severely damaged in his struggle with Ryukotsusei, Toga assumed his actual form and rushed to save his wife and children. When he arrived at the mansion, he effortlessly defeated the opposing forces with Tessaiga. However, upon learning about his wife and son’s deaths, Toga slashed off Takemaru’s left arm and ran into the castle while Takemaru ordered his warriors to burn it down.
The Great Dog General revived Izayoi and Inuyasha using Tenseiga after discovering their bodies as the castle burnt around them. He wrapped them in the Fire Rat robe and instructed them to leave while he fought Takemaru.
Toga died with Takemaru when the flaming home fell after promising his family to live long and prosper. While he managed to save his wife and children, the dog demon succumbed to his wounds and perished. While not directly responsible, the dragon demon Ryukotsusei bears responsibility for the death of Inuyasha’s father.
Who was Inuyasha’s father?
The Toga was a fierce dog demon that ruled over the Western Lands and was feared throughout feudal Japan as the greatest of his kind. He had two sons, Sesshomaru and Inuyasha, the main character of our series. He was initially more powerful than his sons and was regarded as one of the most formidable yokai.
Toga has beaten Daiyokai as powerful as Shishinki, the Panther King, Hyoga, and Ryukotsusei. The Toga was well renowned for his superb swordsmanship, despite his tremendous physical strength in both human and canine form. He wielded the three great swords of Supreme conquest: So’unga, Tessaiga, and Tenseiga, each with its own set of abilities.
While he handed the latter two to his sons, So’unga, also known as the sword of hell, could only be handled by the dog demon and could not be passed on. While Toga’s specific strength is unclear, the fact that he wielded three greatswords and that Sesshomaru sought to emulate his might makes him one of the series’ strongest characters.
Is Inuyasha stronger than Inuyasha’s father?
Inuyasha has grown in power since the beginning of the series. Has he, however, outdone his father? Yes, the answer is yes. While many claim that Inuyasha depends on himself by wielding Tessaiga, a sword designed by his father, what they fail to grasp is that a weapon, no matter what it is made of, is ultimately just an item.
It is all about how the user uses the weapon. In this scenario, Inuyasha has been able to push the sword’s strength to new heights and make it his own, owing to his love for Kagome and the addition of his fang to Tessaiga.
Even if Inuyasha isn’t physically more robust than his father, he has a more extensive reservoir of talents to use and adapt to different situations. Furthermore, he defeated Ryukotsusei, and while Toga did as well, the former managed to stay alive as a differentiating feature. Overall, we may conclude that at the end of the series, Inuyasha had surpassed his father.
Inuyasha never met his father because he died shortly after the half-demon was born. He did, however, glimpse his father’s ghost at the end of the third film, Swords of an Honorable Ruler.
