We recently noticed that when put on the LGA 1700 socket, Intel 12th Gen Alder Lake CPUs were prone to bending. While customers believed there was a flaw in Intel’s architecture of the Independent Loading Mechanism or ILM, the corporation answered that everything is in compliance with standard operating procedures.
The bending is not due to a flaw in the design. Thermalright is aware of the issue and has created a bracket to prevent the chip from warping while in use. Users should not edit the ILM less if they do not want their warranty to be voided, according to the business.

The ‘In-Spec’ bending issue with Intel Alder Lake CPUs persists, and Thermalright has aided consumers by giving a remedy.
The use of additional washers or similar brackets to maintain the geometry of the ILM on the Intel Alder Lake CPU is expressly forbidden by Intel. This does not, however, preclude manufacturers from assisting customers by supplying things that can be used to construct a solution. The LGA1700-BCF is a Thermalright attachment that goes over the CPU to assist keep it in shape and reduce, if not eliminate, warping.
The advantage of Thermalright’s LGA1700-BCF bracket is that customers and enthusiasts will be able to use their Intel Alder Lake CPU for a longer period of time, even if temperatures spike to abnormal levels due to bending. The chip’s form is maintained by the bracket, which connects connector pins to the motherboard.
Thermalright’s bracket is made of metal and comes in two colors: red and grey and grey and white. However, the page on Taobao only sells the red and grey versions. Even more intriguing is the fact that the LGA1700-BCF is exclusively available on Taobao. The product is not available on the company’s website, and there is no news release promoting it.
Thermalright’s LGA1700-BCF attachment retails for about $30. However, it is unclear whether or not it will be released outside of China. Other manufacturers could produce comparable items based on the concept to capitalize on a need among computer users.
If you can’t get your hands on Thermalright’s LGA1700-BCF attachment, some computer users have been known to utilize additional washers directly on the socket screws of the processor to restrict or avoid warpage. Keep in mind, however, that Intel considers this step to nullify the warranty of qualifying users.
The problem with the Intel Alder Lake “In-Spec” processor bending persists, and Thermalright has provided a solution to users.
Intel strongly advises against installing additional washers or similar brackets to keep an Intel Alder Lake processor’s ILM form.
