Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao, in a joint statement, announced divorce after 15 years of marriage.
We continue to share our lives as friends and co-parents for the sake of their daughter Aaira who is now five. We feel it’s appropriate that they live with us because we are not able to be at each other every day due to work commitments; thus we will both keep them happy living under one roof.”
With a joint statement, actor Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao announced their divorce after 15 years of marriage. The couple shared the following message with fans: “In these fifteen beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy, and laughter.”
Kiran Rao and Aamir Khan, who have been together for fifteen years announced their separation on Saturday morning. The couple has a son Azad that was born in 2011 when they were married. They met while working on the film Lagaan where Kiran served as an assistant director to Aamir Khan; it is speculated that she directed him at some points. In a joint statement
“This union of two people, forged over many years, has sadly come to an end,” said Ajay Virmani from Mumbai-based production company KriArj Entertainment which co-produced movies like Dhoom 3 with them.”
“We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together. We will also continue to work as collaborators on films, Paani Foundation, and other projects that we feel passionate about.
“A big thank you to our families and friends for their constant support and understanding about this evolution in our relationship, and without whom we would not have been so secure in taking this leap.
“We request our well wishers for good wishes and blessings, and hope that — like us — you will see this divorce not as an end, but as the start of a new journey.

Aamir and Kiran have been in love since their days working together on the film, “Lagaan”. They tied the knot in 2005. Their son Azad Rao Khan was born via surrogate nine years later.
