Basically, the series is a television crime drama that also has a touch of historical fiction. The original story of Taboo was written by Tom Hardy, one of the leading characters of the series, and his dad, Chips Hardy.
The series was jointly created by its authors, Tom Hardy and Chips Hardy, along with a British screenwriter, Steven Knight. The series, Taboo comprised of a total of 8 episodes, each prolonging for nearly 60 minutes.

Dating back to 1814, the first episode of the series begins with the return of James Delaney to England after a stay of 12 solid years in Africa, along with fourteen stolen diamonds. Simultaneously, he was made to address his father’s death, and the war with the United States was coming to an end.
The series takes us on a tour to explore the dark sides of London in the 1800s, like the increase in wealth of the rich whereas the working class continues to suffer, political and business corruption, and a lot more.

Announcement about Taboo Season 2
Though the executive producer has not given us a ton of information, he has opened up some of the main potential plots of the series, Taboo Season 2. In an interview with Radio Times, one of three creators of Taboo, Steven Knight said that he is planning to do at least two more series.
Steven also stated that he is just doing it now, and is also trying his level best to complete it as soon as possible.
He also said that the earliest we’d see Season 2 will be in 2018.
About Taboo Season 2, there was an update finally after a long wait, but it not a piece of good news for the fandom of Taboo Season 2. Steven announced that the script of the series, Taboo Season 2 was almost done. But, due to a couple of important reasons, the filming of Taboo season 2 has not yet started.
In an interview with Collider, Steven Knight confessed that he has such a great working relationship with the lead character of Taboo Season 2, Tom Hardy.
He also explained that their relationship is all about the work and the key point for the success of their relationship is that they do not socialize it. He also said that they used to socialize their relationship, but not often, just occasionally.
He praised Tom Hardy that he is the sort of person who will be devoted to working, acting, and on the whole, to their carrier. He will be so passionate during work. And Steven also said that Tom is not a fan of celebrities. He just loves to act.
To Deadline Hollywood, BBC One & FX said that, Taboo Renewed for Taboo Season 2. But after, there was no other announcement, neither from the Taboo team nor from BBC One. But now we are standing in 2021, and the unexpected appearance of the Coronavirus has slowed down production across the globe. But, still, Steven is trying his level best to give us Taboo Season 2.
What will be the number of episodes in Taboo Season 2?
We can expect around 8 episodes in Taboo Season 2, the same as Taboo season 1.
One of the main reasons for the delay in the release of Taboo Season 2 is that the unavailability of Tom Hardy: He is been working with other projects, and his role is the main reason for the success of Season 1, Steven is optimistically waiting for Tom Hardy’s presence. Thus, it is really hard for all to start the shooting of Taboo Season 2.
