Obi-Wan Kenobi’s premiere will be two days late, but you’ll get two episodes at once

ABOUT THE STORY OF OBI-WAN KENOBI

While May 25th sounded like the ideal date to launch Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, given that it’s the 45th anniversary of the Jedi Master’s first appearance in the original Star Wars, it appears like we’ll have to wait two days longer.

Leading actor Ewan McGregor, who is reprising his role as now-Ben Kenobi from the Prequel Trilogy, made the announcement himself in the video below, but he also brought some good news: the six-episode series will now launch on May 27th, featuring not one but two episodes.

The announcement was announced on Thursday with a video starring Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi. Disney originally debuted Wednesday premieres with Loki in 2021 (along with a video, this time starring Tom Hiddleston), and the move was supposedly so popular that the business quickly switched all of its original series release dates to Wednesdays. Despite the scheduling change for Obi-Wan Kenobi’s premiere, Disney states that subsequent episodes will continue to air on Wednesdays.

The Disney Plus premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi comes a little later than expected. Disney said on Thursday that the series will now premiere on May 27, two days beyond its initial release date. Along with the rescheduled release date, Disney announced that fans would be able to see the first two episodes of the series all at once, which should help to compensate for the two-day wait.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT OBI-WAN KENOBI

That’s a shame because the 25th would have marked the 45th anniversary of the first Star Wars film. But don’t be upset, as McGregor’s body language says. As retribution for the major inconvenience, Disney will now release the first two episodes on the same day, rather than just one.

This new series starring McGregor has been a long time coming for fans of the property. The series was first announced in the summer of 2019, and Disney has since confirmed that additional notable celebrities have joined the cast, including Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen, who will reprise his role as Sam in the trilogy.
