Hertz REVEALS it’s new plan to make the Mustangs available at rentals

Must read

Hertz announces a new plan of renting Mustangs

In one of the moves made by Hertz, the customers got access to Shelby-tuned Ford Mustangs. It was among the programs that pay homage to the classic ’60s Rent-A-Racer program. Hertz announced to do something similar once again. This time Shelby is thinking of increasing the output on certain GT500s to 900-plus horsepower. That’s at least 100 times more than the Signature Edition that was actually for sale. Though, we have no words on how much that rental insurance or bail would cost you.

Hertz announces its new plan to make the Mustangs available at rentals

Specifications of the new version

It will be the most powerful version having the 900-plus hp fastback. In total, they built 25. They tuned GT500 with a supercharger. Its color will be golden and strapped to the 5.2-liter V8. It will also have a bonnet made of carbon fiber. According to Hertz, it removes 30 pounds from the car. Besides this, there will be a Borla exhaust as well. These variants with the highest powers will be available for rent only in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and several cities in Florida. Hertz boasts that the version GT500H is “the most powerful rental car that Shelby has ever built.”

The GT-H version

A more domestic version, known as the GT-H with a mere 450 HP from its Coyote 5.0-liter. It will come in both convertible and fastback variants. They receive a Borla exhaust and a more traditional Shelby visual treatment. The featuring of the GT-H will be done in more cities than the GT-500H. The locations will be Texas, California, and Georgia. They will also offer them to renters. It doesn’t matter which version the drivers get their hands on. They will get gold Hertz striping, special Hertz badging and interior trim pieces, and 20-inch wheels which will be staggered.

Hertz focusing on building its economy

Throughout its entire history, Hertz offered many sports cars. The company went through bankruptcy and the creditors forced it to sell a large portion of its property. Hertz has ended up parting ways with a lot of those special editions. This includes Hendrick-tuned Chevy Camaro ZL1s and Corvette Z06s. Now Hertz is recreating its fleet as the economy seems to recover from the pandemic. It is well known that filing mistaken police reports landed customers in jail in recent months.

The past remains to be seen although Shelby helps restore the glory days for the company. Although the 900-hp GT500H can land many people in jail without any help at all from Hertz. The cars featuring gold racing stripes are Ford Shelby GT-500s. Additionally, they have been modified by Shelby American of Las Vegas. These cars have a 760-horsepower supercharged V8. This has been considered inadequate when these cars leave the Ford factory. This was for the demands of some Hertz rental customers. To cope with all these troubles faced by the customers, Shelby American put on a larger supercharger. This helps to produce additional horsepower.
