Avatar has been the highest-grossing film ever in the film industry. It was such a massive success that even after ten years of release, no film could break its record. James Cameron's genius in this film is common knowledge by now, and the film is famous worldwide. However, the creators of the film didn't intend to make Avatar a one-off. The film is only the first part of a whole franchise, and there have been updates about upcoming sequels. Fans had been asking about Avatar 2 and when it might come out. Now, almost 11 years later, we are still far away from Avatar 2. Here's everything we know about Avatar 2.
The original date for Avatar 2 was going to be in 2014. However, this didn't work out because of production issues. After that, the creators of the film scheduled the date on December 17, 2021. Unfortunately, this date is seeing a delay as well. The coronavirus pandemic has pushed the date back to December 16, 2022. The same thing has happened with all the other parts as well. Avatar 3 will come out in 2024, Avatar 4 in 2026, and Avatar 5 in 2029. That is, if, everything works out accordingly and production doesn't see more hindrances. We will update you when we get more details.
A tweet from the official Avatar twitter handle shows Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Kate Winslet, and Cliff Curtis together on the set. All four of the actors were in a pool possibly filming for Avatar 2's motion capture. Giovanni Ribisi, Joel David Moore, and CCH Pounder are also returning to their roles. Surprisingly, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang are also returning to the sequel. On top of this, Cameron has brought together Jemaine Clement, David Thewlis, and Michelle Yeoh as well for the film. There are other supporting characters as well, but the primary ones are the names above.

The second instalment in the franchise will happen ten years after the events of the first film. Na'vi and Neytiri will have children in this film. From what we know, there will be three- Neteyam, Lo'ak, Tuktirey. Most of the film is going to be in an oceanic setting around the islands of Pandora. According to the producers, the movie will be the second act in the franchise. Cameron wants to make these sequels stand-alone and worth selling. Since most of the plot is still a mystery, there isn't much we can say about it.
The first movie introduced us to the world of Pandora and the team of humans trying to get there. The only way to get to Pandora was through uploading someone's consciousness into the world. While initially, the humans send Jack Sully for the mission, he soon realises they intend to colonise Pandora. He also meets Neytiri and her tribe in Pandora and soon falls in love with her as the tribe accepts him. In the end, Jack fights humans alongside the tribe and protects Pandora. The producers haven't released a trailer for the second movie yet, so here's the trailer for Avatar!
