SHOCKING Announcement from ISRO Plans to Go to Venus after Mars Mission!

Must read

India plans to join with the US for the Venus mission

India is planning to join the race with the US and several other countries to go to Venus after the successful completion of the Moon and Mars missions. The objective of the mission will be to study the atmosphere of Venus. Mostly, it is toxic and corrosive as clouds of sulfuric acid cover the planet.

ISRO plans Venus mission with other countries after Mars mission

The chairman of ISRO, S Somanath said that the work on the mission has been going on for years and now the space agency is ready to send an orbiter to Venus. They made the project report, overall plans and the money identified. For India, building and putting a mission on Venus is possible even in a very short period.  This is because of the capability that India has today. This is what the ISRO chairman said during a meeting that went for one daylong on Venusian science.

ISRO’s eyes are on December 2024 window

ISRO is keeping its eyes on the December 2024 window for its launch with orbital maneuvers. They are planned for the following year as the Earth and Venus would be aligned such that the spacecraft can be put in the planet’s orbit with the use of minimum propellant. Next such a scene will occur in 2031. Although ISRO has not yet announced the official dates for the release of the Venus mission. They planned several experiments for the Venus mission. These include the investigation of the surface processes and shallow subsurface stratigraphy, which includes active volcanic hotspots and lava flows, the study of the structure, composition, and dynamics of the atmosphere, and the investigation of solar wind interaction with the Venusian Ionosphere.

Other agencies participating in the mission to Venus

Apart from ISRO, NASA is also sending two spacecraft to Venus to study the existence of life on the planet. The US space agency has decided to spend about $1 billion to explore the world of Venus. Also, there has been an announcement from the European Space Agency regarding a mission to the neighboring planet. The next orbiter to take rounds over Venus will be Europe’s EnVision. This would provide a holistic view of the planet from its inner core to the upper atmosphere.

Glimpses of the meeting

Mr. Somnath warned against repeating experiments conducted during previous missions to the Venus. He said to focus on outcomes that are unique and cause a high impact comparable to that achieved during Chandrayaan-I and Mars Orbiter Mission.

Venus is a cloud-swaddled planet. It’s named for a love goddess and is often called Earth’s twin. But if we pull up a bit closer, Venus turns hellish. The nearest planetary neighbor of earth and the second planet from the Sun has a surface that is hot enough to melt lead. Also, the atmosphere is so thick that the Sun seems to be just a smear of light.
