Main Plot: Not What it seems?
Five decades ago, humanity was attacked by creatures, who were humans who gained superpowers and were labeled as “enemies of humanity”. As the war raged on, the government couldn’t control the creatures and so they had to sign a pact and bear with their outbursts. The creatures too were tired of being controlled, and they killed several people within that time.
The starting and the background plot are already proving to be pretty dark. Don’t worry, it gets darker.
Some of those “gifted” children, blessed with Talents such as Pyrokinesis, time travel, future-sight and so much more, were locked inside an island, barred from outside communication, with the lie of training to fight “enemies of humanity” when they were just being contained. So an assassin was sent to kill all the children to stop the long history of bloodshed once and for all.
While you may get confused at the start at who the protagonists are, but the story will continue to evolve in a rather dark manner. That is why this anime is not suited for all.

Nana Hiiragi: One of the two transfers, with her telling that she could read minds. Loved by most, with her outgoing, friendly, and vibrant nature, she quickly became the favorite peer among the students. But later (SPOILER! Scroll if you need to maintain the secrecy), it was found that her ability to read minds was a lie and she said what she deduced on blatant guesses. She knew how to control her ability to give off emotions as well as read other people’s emotions well.
And later we find out, she is the assassin sent by the government to kill off the “enemies of humanity”.
Kyouya Onodera: The other transfer student with a mysterious, quiet, and occasionally creepy vibe, Kyouka kept his identity hidden for most of the first half. He was (Spoiler!) the only one who was suspicious of Nana behind the disappearances and the murders of his fellow students. Later he reveals his ability is invincibility and as such no other Talents can kill him.

This anime tells us a lot just by this. It is quite similar to the popular mainstream anime Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) and tells us different perspectives of society. It may be me, with my inside politics acting up, but it tells us how society sees those different than them and the systematic assimilation and annihilation. Neither side is wrong.
Nana was told and possibly forced-fed of the ideology of her superiors and was shown the damage the Talented had done and the casualties, sometimes in hundreds of thousands or even millions. She has a reason and she is defending her cause by killing those she considers, or brainwashed into thinking, “enemies of humanity”.
But in that case, even the Talented is not wrong since they are the ones being controlled into fighting an enemy that may or may not exist and they are children with dreams and hopes and are being murdered ruthlessly.
So, in a way, it does tell the harsh truth of society. Or maybe I’m not getting enough sleep. Moving on with the news about Talentless Nana Season 2…

Manga sold about 97,000 copies till the 7th volume. There are 8 in total and the sales figure of the final is yet to be declared. Also, its latest volume stayed in the top 500 selling manga for three weeks.
In the case of Blu-Ray DVDs, it said that the first one sold over 163 copies and the second and third one did so poorly they can’t even be ranked. These figures aren’t all that good which means the hype and the pressure on the studios isn’t all that effective.
Yes, there is the source material for the Talentless Nana Season 2 since the 13 episode anime only covered till chapter 28th of the fifth volume. So all in all, there is ample source material for Talentless Nana season 2.
The anime will continue from chapter 29 of the fifth volume and possibly start in 2022 but there is no news regarding the Talentless Nana season 2 and there won’t be unless the studios are pushed to reveal.

Later he joined the UQ Holder, which was a group of immortals, led by Yukihime. There he met the other members of UQ Holder.
