InSight has detected more than 1,313 marsquakes in nearly 1300 days on Mars. The official date of ending the mission of the lander’s primary mission was in 2020. But NASA continued the mission.

Former Percy Jackson star Alexandria Daddario has joined series creator Rick Riordan in congratulating Leah Jeffries on her casting as Annabeth Chase in the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Riordan wrote a blog post on May 10 denouncing social media users for “bullying and harassing a child” because 12-year-old Jeffries, who is Black, will play a white character in Riordan’s books. In both live-action Fox films, Daddario played Annabeth, Athena’s demigod daughter, in 2010’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief and 2013’s Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.

“Leah Jeffries is going to be a fantastic Annabeth!” In response to the backlash, Daddario took to Twitter. More than 40,000 people have liked the tweet.

Jeffries said on Instagram Live that she has been banned from TikTok due to the online response to her casting as Annabeth.

“My TikTok account has been suspended. They basically took down my entire account because they didn’t want me to be Annabeth or something “In the video, Jeffries addressed her followers. “I no longer have a TikTok account, but that isn’t going to stop us!”

DALLAS — In 1980, the small North Texas town of Wylie was startled by a gruesome ax murder.

According to Texas Monthly’s account of Montgomery’s trial, Candy Montgomery killed Betty Gore by chopping her with an ax 41 times after a dispute about Montgomery’s months-long romance with Gore’s husband.

Two new true-crime series, Hulu’s Candy starring Jessica Biel and HBO Max’s Love and Death starring Elizabeth Olsen, are reviving the case 42 years later.

From May 9 to 13, Candy will be a five-night event. The film Love and Death will be released later this year.

Each part examines the terrible story of two churchgoing couples who were enjoying small-town family life until that fateful Friday the 13th of June 1980.

The Scandal

Candy Montgomery was the mother of two children and the wife of Pat Montgomery, a young electrical engineer at Texas Instruments. Betty Gore, who was married to Allan Gore, was a middle school teacher.

According to a 1984 story in Texas Monthly, both the Montgomerys and the Gores were regular attendees at the First United Methodist Church of Lucas. Candy Montgomery and Betty Gore met because of this, which eventually led to an affair and murder.

The Offense and Prosecution

Then, on June 13th, 1980, the Gore family’s Wylie home was the scene of one of Texas’ most notorious murders.

Betty Gore confronted Candy Montgomery about the affair, resulting in an ax fight. After winning the fight, Candy Montgomery allegedly assaulted Betty Gore 41 times, killing her.

Candy Montgomery was later apprehended and prosecuted for Betty Gore’s murder. Candy Montgomery claimed in court that she killed Gore in self-defense because “the heavier and larger [Betty] refused to let [Candy] go after being struck twice with the ax by [Betty] and then obtaining control of the weapon.”

Candy may have fled “rather than pummelled” Betty Gore to death, according to the prosecution.

Candy Montgomery was declared not guilty of Betty Gore’s murder by a jury of nine women and three men on Oct. 30, 1980. She was found not guilty of murder.

Some North Texas residents are still haunted by murder.

WFAA returned to Wylie twenty-eight years after Gore was killed to speak with numerous residents about their memories of the terrible story. That house is still talked about in Wylie.
